Jack's Review
The first episode of season two is better than all of the first season. We get Starfleet ships, Picard is part of Starfleet, a huge anomaly, Guinan, and Q. While it does have some of the annoying camera angles and pacing issues that plague modern cinema, it does a really good job of setting the story and pointing the season down a specific path.
Jack's Rating:
Picard finds himself transported to an alternate timeline in the year 2400 where his longtime nemesis, Q, has orchestrated one final trial.

A terrific episode! Fun, exciting, and with a similar feel to one of the TNG films.

This one is terrific. Another fun romp getting the cast where they need to be. Parts of this season remind me of Voyager's "Future's End". Stranded crew. Trying to blend in. Overall, a really good episode.

With time running out to save the future, Picard takes matters into his own hands and seeks out an old friend for help. Rios ends up on the wrong side of the law. Jurati makes a deal with the Borg Queen.

I could have given this one a full five pips for the interplay between Raffi and Seven as well as the greatest cameo in Trek history - but the episode does lean towards being preachy. Old Trek would tackle modern issues by using allegory with alien cultures. Modern Trek just throws it right out there. Don't show us how bad things are. We know. Show us how to solve them. Last gripe for me is...why didn't Guinan recognize Picard? They met in 1893. Same timeline they are in now. They jumped back in time before the timeline skewed off....She should know who he is.
Jack's Rating:
Picard discovers an important person from his past may be integral to the divergence in the timeline; Q continues his manipulation of the timeline; Seven and Raffi attempt to rescue Rios; Jurati faces the consequences of her deal with the Borg Queen.

The last of the filler episodes, thankfully. Hide and Seek gives us some new and surprising possibilities for future Borg interactions. There are some rather silly moments - I mean, the Borg-ified bad guys are basically worthless as soldiers and the green pointer lasers might as well be flashlights.

I admit it - this episode made me cry like a baby. Three times. A surprise character return, a shocking bit of tenderness, and a well rounded finish, give this episode a well deserved mark as a favorite. It's a fitting and incredibly well done end to a story that sagged in the middle and came up for air at just the right moment.
