Jack's Review of Star Trek: Insurrection
Lots of Trekkies slam this film, but you know what? It's not that bad. Sure, it sends Picard's character further off the rails - but with an actual reason this time. Sure, it feels like a long episode of the show - but why is that a bad thing? The fountain of youth effects from the planet are what sent Picard off on his "damn the prime directive" jaunt. Plus, the prime directive doesn't apply since the planet's inhabitants were once a space-fairing race. You have to enjoy the scene where the Enterprise takes on the Sona ships in the Briar Patch....And yes, I owned that same joystick Riker uses to manually fly the ship too...we all did. Still, it's a better film than Generations and Nemesis.
