Jack's Review of Star Trek Beyond

While still having some modern cinema problems, Beyond does have the strongest story and direction of the Kelvin Timeline films. The interplay between the main characters feels more like Trek and the overall pacing of the film is better. The only real issues I have with this film are: stop destroying the damned Enterprise, will ya? I swear in the Kelvin films the ship is made out of papier-mâché. Next - the villain is kind of silly. Why destroy a single space station when you could have gone to Earth and done your dastardly deed on a much more massive scale? Why does Kirk need to ride around on a motocross cycle? That was just silly. Other than that, it's a fun film that was written by Simon Pegg, who understands Trek and how films should work.
