Jack's Review
I remember seeing this episode when it originally aired in 1995. For a first episode of a series the characters are remarkably well fleshed out. We are also provided with a good sense of the trouble the crew is in being 70,000 light years from home.

An organ-harvesting species known as the Vidiians steal Neelix's lungs, leaving him to die.

Jack's Review
Oh Janeway....you rock. Telling the organ thieves that if they ever mess with your crew again you would respond with the most deadly force. Excellent acting by Robert Picardo, Kate Mulgrew, and Ethan Phllips makes this episode very special.

Phenomenal twist and one of the first episodes where we see how desperate the stranded crew is. I really enjoyed this one - overall one of the best first season episodes.

Jack's Review
Well acted and directed, this episode showcases how nasty and awful the Vidiians race is. Almost like a horror movie....I was quite sad that Janeway didn't get a chance to whoop ass on them like she warned in "Phage".

Very well done episode for Chakotay. We really get a good look at what makes him tick. We find him to be peaceful, spiritual, kind, and ultimately a badass!

Space-dwelling life-forms cause Kes to enter the Ocampan fertile phase called Elogium, putting pressure on her relationship with Neelix when she wants to have his child.

Jack's Review
While still expertly acted, I think the writers in this episode drifted off station on Neelix and B'Elanna. I did love the way Neelix had to carry Kes to sickbay while she was still eating everything, including the flowers he brought her.

Good episode all-around! Loved the way the old man, Caylem, touches Janeway's face. It feels so alien that it made me uncomfortable at times. Costume design was very good, suspense was dead on, totally worth watching.

Jack's Review
A fitting end to a great two-part episode. I did have a couple of minor quibbles with this one, however. Why did Hogan have to die so meaninglessly? Why did the Maj relinquish Voyager so quickly? Oh well, it was still a good one and good riddance to Seska!

Yet another example of fine acting by this stellar cast. Robert Duncan McNeill really and truly shines in this one. We get a glimpse of more depth to Tom Paris, and a hint at just how much he has matured serving with Janeway. How long until he regains Lieutenant status, I wonder?

This was a seriously strange episode. So much so that I can't really describe it....boxing, Ray Walston, Chakotay, some terrific acting by Robert Picardo once again...yet overall to hard to follow.

Jack's Review
Not a huge fan of this episode. While the 3D movie theater scenes are brilliant, the overall plot is silly and a tad thin. I would think Starfleet would scan every message before sending it across the galaxy to a Federation starship....
