I recall that I disliked watching DS9 when it originally aired because of the political storylines but this one is good. It shows off the acting skills of the cast very well too.

Fantastic story and acting - part 1 of a three parter. My only complaint is the rescue seemed a bit too easy....other than that, excellent adventure.

Jack's Review
Very neat episode but I am wondering how Bashir cured O'Brein so easily since he was infected with some genetic weapon that was supposed to be so terrible. This one adds more depth to what will, I am sure, become the Geordi/Data team of DS9.

The matte composite work on this show is incredible. Hundreds of ships on the screen at the same time...it boggles the mind.

I had the end of this one figured out early in the episode - but that doesn't detract from the great acting and good-if-easy to figure out story.

While the episode is good and the acting by the main cast members is stellar as always, the two main tough guy actors are pretty wooden. Overall a great setup for adding depth to Nog.
