Jack's Review
What an amazing first episode! It has everything you should expect from Star Trek. It's fun, sometimes silly, and wonderfully acted. The story is classic Trek. First contact situation goes awry and the Enterprise has to pull off a rescue. Anson Mount is absolutely fabulous as Pike, yet again. Ethan Peck's Spock really feels like he is really channeling Nimoy now. Number One is wonderful - as we knew she would be. Uhura and Chapel are simply terrific. The new crew members already seem like old friends. Ortegas is already my favorite, M'Benga seems like a guy you'd just want to be around, and Singh is wonderfully flawed. This is what Trek is supposed to be: positive, hopeful, thoughtful, glorious.
